Tombe d’Alexis Muston

Grave of the minister Alexis Muston whom occupied his position from 1836 to 1888. He was a doctor as well and healed his parishioners with homeopathy and plants. His reputation crossed the boundaries of the department.

Description

A historian of the Vaudois, he was also a naturalist, poet, remarkable draughtsman and delicate watercolorist. A friend of Victor Hugo and Michelet, he baptized George Sand's grandson, and discussed philosophy with Charles Renouvier, beekeeping with Jean Fabre and linguistics with Frédéric Mistral. Along with Félix Neff, he is undoubtedly the best-known Dauphiné pastor of the century.
